Beatrix Midant-Reynes
Béatrix Midant-Reynes is emeritus research director at the CNRS in the TRACES team, UMR 5608, in Toulouse. From 2010 to 2015, she headed the French Institute of Oriental Archeology (IFAO) in Cairo.
She led the archaeological mission of Tell el-Iswid from 2006 to 2016, when she retired, and handed over the responsibility to Nathalie Buchez. She is now co-director of the site and in charge, with François Briois, of the study of lithic material (cut flint).
From 1989 to 2005, she headed the archaeological mission of Adaïma, in Upper Egypt, then, from 2002 to 2005, she led with the same team the excavations of the predynastic cemetery of Kom el-Khilgan, in the Eastern Delta. From 1999 to 2015, she was responsible, with François Briois, of the prehistory component of the interdisciplinary program of Douch, oasis of Kharga, directed by Michel Wuttmann.
All these sites are the responsibility of Ifao and, except Douch, all have benefited from the support of the excavation commission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
